Abstract

  • In January 2024, year on year (y-on-y) inflation in East Java Province will be 2.47 percent with a Consumer Price Index (CPI) of 105.41. The highest inflation occurred in Bojonegoro Regency at 4.58 percent with a CPI of 107.27 and the lowest occurred in Gresik Regency at 1.81 percent with a CPI of 104.02.
  • Y-on-y inflation occurred due to an increase in prices as indicated by an increase in the expenditure group index, namely: the food, beverage and tobacco group by 5.46 percent; clothing and footwear group at 2.43 percent; housing, water, electricity and household fuel group at 0.58 percent; equipment, tools and routine household maintenance group of 1.34 percent; health group by 2.40 percent; transportation group at 0.87 percent; recreation, sports and culture group at 0.79 percent; education group at 1.33 percent; food and beverage/restaurant provision group at 2.24 percent; and the personal care and other services group at 2.97 percent. Meanwhile, the expenditure groups that experienced a decline in the index were: information, communication and financial services groups by 0.38 percent.
  • The month to month (m-to-m) deflation rate and year to date (y-to-d) deflation rate for East Java Province in January 2024 are 0.10 percent each.
