Abstract

Farmer Exchange Rate (NTP) is a comparison of the price index received by farmers (It) to the price index paid by farmers (Ib).

NTP is an indicator to see the level of ability/purchasing power of farmers in rural areas. NTP also shows the exchangeability (terms of trade) of agricultural products for goods and services consumed and for production costs.

The East Java Farmer Exchange Rate (NTP) in October 2023 rose 1.93 percent from 111.19 to 113.34. The increase in NTP was caused by the price index received by farmers (It) increasing by 2.20 percent, higher than the increase in the price index paid by farmers (Ib) of 0.27 percent.

In October 2023, two agricultural subsectors experienced an increase in NTP and three other subsectors experienced a decrease in NTP. The subsector that experienced the highest increase in NTP was the Horticulture subsector by 4.02 percent from 106.56 to 110.85, followed by the Food Crops subsector by 2.98 percent from 116.76 to 120.23. Meanwhile, the subsector that experienced the highest decline in NTP was the Livestock subsector by 0.87 percent from 103.83 to 102.92, followed by the Fisheries subsector by 0.37 percent from 98.51 to 98.15, and the Community Plantation Crops subsector by 0.11 percent from 104.75 to 104.63.

Of the five provinces on the island of Java that carried out NTP calculations in October 2023, all of them experienced an increase in NTP. The highest increase in NTP was in Banten Province at 2.50 percent, followed by West Java at 2.11 percent, Central Java at 2.04 percent, East Java at 1.93 percent, and the Special Region of Yogyakarta at 0.99 percent.
