Abstract

East Java Deflation 0.52 percent in February 2015

In the month of February 2015 in East Java deflation of 0.52 percent. All cities CPI in East Java, experiencing deflation. The highest deflation occurred in Banyuwangi of 1.02 percent, followed by 0.83 percent Kediri, Malang of 0.57 percent, 0.56 percent Sumenep, Jember of 0.54 percent, Madiun of 0.51 percent. While the lowest deflation at Surabaya and Probolinggo each of 0.42 percent.

Of the seven groups of expenditure, the two groups experienced deflation. Group expenditure deflation is a group of transport, communications and financial services by 2.23 percent, and foodstuffs by 1.36 percent. While the group with the highest inflation in the clothing category at 0.69 percent, followed by food, beverages, cigarettes and tobacco by 0.37 percent, housing, water, electricity, gas and fuel by 0.30 percent, health of 0.24 percent, and inflation was lowest in education, recreation and sports by 0.08 percent.

Commodities which provides the largest share of deflation is gasoline, cayenne pepper, red chili, local transportation, air transportation, eggs, onion, diesel, cement and potatoes. Commodities which provides the largest share of inflation is rice, electricity rates, car, gold jewelry, motorcycles, wine, mattresses, maintenance / service vehicles, cakes, and parking rates. Rice experienced significant price increases, especially at week-February 4 due to the reduced supply of rice in the market and the high demand for rice from outside East Java.

Of 6 provincial capital on the island of Java, five experienced deflation and inflation of the city. The highest deflation occurred in the town of Serang of 0.94 percent, followed by 0.67 percent Semarang, Surabaya city of 0.42 percent, 0.40 percent of Yogyakarta city, and the lowest deflation at Bandung by 0.37 percent. While inflation occurs only in the city of 0.24 percent.

Of the 82 cities nationwide CPI, 70 cities experienced deflation and 12 cities experienced inflation. Five cities experiencing the highest deflation of 2.35 percent Bukit Tinggi, Padang of 2.07 percent, 2.07 percent of Lhokseumawe, Sibolga of 2.04 percent, Tanjung Pandan by 1.94 percent and amounted to 1.84 percent Hammer . While the 5 cities with the highest inflation is Tual by 3.20 percent, 1.03 percent Ambon, Balikpapan 0.72 percent, 0.43 percent and Pontianak Singaraja of 0.42 percent.

 
The inflation rate of the calendar year (December 2014-February 2015) East Java deflation of 0.32 percent. Inflation year-on-year (February 2015 to February 2014) in East Java at 6.00 percent, the rate is lower than the inflation year-on-year in February 2014 at 7.03 percent.
