Abstract

The combined year on year (y-on-y) inflation for eight cities in September 2023 is 3.01 percent. The combined month-to-month (m-to-m) inflation rate for 8 cities in September 2023 was 0.32 percent with a Consumer Price Index (CPI) of 116.58.
Y-on-y inflation occurred due to an increase in prices as indicated by an increase in all expenditure group indices, namely: the food, beverage and tobacco group by 6.09 percent; clothing and footwear group by 2.90 percent; housing, air, electricity and household fuel group at 1.88 percent; equipment, tools and routine household maintenance group of 2.59 percent; health group at 3.62 percent; transportation group at 0.34 percent; information, communication and financial services group at 0.05 percent; recreation, sports and culture group at 1.26 percent; education group at 2.24 percent; group provides
food and beverage/restaurants at 3.30 percent; and the personal care and other services group at 4.63 percent. At the city level, the highest y-on-y inflation in September 2023 occurred in Sumenep at 4.47 percent with a CPI of 118.19 and the lowest occurred in Madiun at 2.16 percent with a CPI of 114.20.
The y-on-y inflation rate for September 2023 for the energy component was 0.06 percent, on an m-to-m basis inflation was 0.81 percent.
The y-on-y inflation rate for September 2023 for the food component was 6.28 percent, on an m-to-m basis inflation was 0.79 percent.
