Month to Month (mtm) inflation of Combined eight East Java cities in May 2023 of 0.18 percent

Abstract

The year on year (yoy) inflation for combined eight cities in May 2023 was 5.02 percent. The month to month (mtm) inflation rate for combined 8 cities in May 2023 was 0.18 percent with the Consumer Price Index (CPI) of 115.79.

Yoy inflation occurred due to price increases as indicated by increases in most of the expenditure group indices, namely: the food, beverage and tobacco group by 5.19 percent; the clothing and footwear group by 3.84 percent; the housing, water, electricity and household fuel group by 2.43 percent; equipment, equipment and household routine maintenance group of 3.37 percent; the health group by 4.26 percent; transportation group by 10.72 percent; recreation, sport and culture group by 1.60 percent; the education group by 4.98 percent; the group providing food and drink/restaurants by 7.13 percent; and the personal care and other services group of 5.67 percent. Meanwhile, the expenditure group that experienced a decrease in index was the information, communication and financial services group by 0.24 percent.

At the city level, the highest May 2023 yoy inflation occurred in Sumenep at 5.44 percent with a CPI of 117.75 and the lowest occurred in Madiun at 3.85 percent with a CPI of 113.65.

The May 2023 yoy inflation rate for the energy component was 13.74 percent, on a mtm basis it experienced a deflation of 0.02 percent.

The May 2023 yoy inflation rate for the food component was 4.30 percent, with an mtm inflation rate of 0.30 percent.
