Profile of Poverty in Jawa Timur, March 2018

In March 2018, the number of poor people in Jawa Timur reached 4,332,59 thousand (10.98 percent), decreased by 72.68 thousand people compared to September 2017 condition which was 4,405.27 thousand (11.20 percent). The role of food commodities against the Poverty Line is much greater than the role of non-food commodities. The contribution of the Food Poverty Line to the Poverty Line in March 2018 was recorded at 74.24 percent, slightly increased compared to September 2017 at 73.96 percent. Based on food commodities, there are 7 commodities that make a significant contribution to the food poverty line, namely rice, clove cigarettes, eggs, sugar, tofu, tempeh, and chicken meat. The composition occurs in all areas in both rural and urban areas.
