Abstract

A total of 128.06 million Indonesians are labor force, an increase of 2.62 million from August 2016. Along with that, the Labor Force Participation Rate (LFPR) also increased by 0.33 points.

In the last year, unemployment increased by 10 thousand people, while TPT decreased by 0.11 points. Judging from the level of education, TPT for Vocational High School (SMK) is the highest among other education levels, which is 11.41 percent.

The working population of 121.02 million people increased by 2.61 million people from August 2016. Sectors that experienced an increase in the percentage of working population mainly in the Industrial Sector (0.93 points), Trade Sector (0.74 points), and Social Institutes (0.49 points). While the sectors that experienced a decline were Agricultural Sector (2.21 points), Mining Sector (0.10 points), and Construction Sector (0.01 points).

As many as 69.02 million people (57.03 percent) of the population work in informal activities, but the percentage decreased by 0.57 points compared to August 2016.

Of the 121.02 million people employed, 7.55 percent were categorized as underemployed and 20.40 percent were part-time workers. In the past year, half the unemployed fell by 0.03 points, while part-time workers rose by 0.76 points
